4. When Jim sees Della’s short hair, he reacts strangely. Why?

4. Who is Miss May Mathis and what happens to her?
5. How does the relationship between Bennie’s mother and Joe Bailey change during the course of the story?

In "Before the End of Summer," Bennie changes from the beginning of the story to the end of the story. In a paragraph, describe how he changes. Use evidence (quotations) from the story to support your answer.
Write your paragraph now. You will type it in the computer lab (on our web site for everyone to see).
